2010 Triumph Thunderbird 1600 has been unveiled at the INTERMOT Cologne show. Powered by a 1599 DOHC Parallel Twin, it’s engine volume is between the Triumph’s smaller displacement cruisers and the the giant, Rocket III. The engine has 103.8 x 94.3mm bore and stroke. Power based on specifications sheet shows at least 80 hp and 100 lb-ft of torque. A belt drive and six-speed transmission are used to drive power to the rear wheel. It is liquid-cooled engine and equipped with fuel injection. The chassis includes cast aluminum five-spoke wheels mated to a tubular steel frame and swingarm. Showa suspension components are sourced, 47mm fork up front and chromed spring shocks out back with five-position preload adjustable. Braking fo the new cruiser is dual 310mm with 4-piston Nissin calipers on front,on rear braking a single 310mm rotor with a 2-piston Brembo caliper. ABS will be available as an option. A 5.5-gallon fuel tank also houses the instrument cluster, with speedometer, tachometer and LCD display. Self-cancelling turn signals will be also utilized by 2010 Triumph Thunderbird 1600. 2010 Triumph Thunderbird 1600 will be directly competitor for the Twin Cam Harley-Davidson.
